I got the opportunity to embrace a great challenge
Can you describe your journey within Ålö so far? I started in May 2007 as Master scheduler, a new position within ÅLÖ at that time. I got an opportunity to develop the role together with the manager for Business Area Production. During my time as a master scheduler I have been a part of many projects linked to planning and our ERP system, but also the transfer of our production facitilies when we started up Ålö Tennessee and Ålö Ningbo. In September 2016, during my Performance Appraisal with my Manager, I mentioned that I was interested in trying the role as a plant manager. As he was looking for someone in Matha/ France, at that time and saw my potential, I got the opportunity to embrace that challenge.
What do you experience are the biggest differences working in Sweden compared to France? I don´t think the differences are that big, except that the standard working hours are 35 hours per week in France compared to 40 hours per week in Sweden and that control and regulations are pretty extensive. I also have some difficulties with the language since all documentation are in French, I should have attended more language classes in school..
What is the best thing about living in Matha/ France? It is not easy to pick one thing. It is a very beautiful area with a wonderful climate. I find it charming that they still have special stores for bread and meat and the people are friendly with a high work ethic. People also have a work life balance, they apprechiate life and take time to slow down in their daily life. With that I mean that they can go to the café or bar after work before getting home for dinner. Another example is that supermarkets are closed on Sundays, compared to Sweden were they are open almost 24/7.
