I Jung

PhD Student

I am a happy PhD student of the Umeå University cooperation program with Ålö!

How did you join Alo? In a few words could you describe your main tasks in your position?
I am originally from Indonesia where I have finished my bachelors in 2008. Afterwards I worked locally for 2 years for a multinational company and then continued my master studies in France and Italy. After graduating, I was looking for a research position in an industry that is uncommon. Ålö together with Umeå University gave me the opportunity to do research in the industrial environment. In my work, I am trying to make use of academic research results within automatic control to model a particular loader and realize some automation tasks of it.

What type of background is needed?
I think some knowledge in automatic control, programming, mechanics and hydraulics are required. My studies in electrical engineering and robotics engineering are a perfect match. Moreover, my interest in automatic control helped me get hands-on experience of control algorithms of some systems. And the experts in Ålö help me learning the rest!

Why is Alo an attractive employer?
I love to see how theories work in practice. And it is amazing if it is helpful on top of that! As a company that actively attempts to improve its products, I get the chance to see both aspects at Ålö. Besides, my PhD studies give me the possibility to attend conferences and summer schools abroad to be updated with advances in the field of automatic control. I am very happy that I went all the way from Indonesia to join this university cooperation program with Ålö!
